Every January, we commit 21 days to God through prayer and fasting. During this time, we seek his presence, provision, and direction for our own lives and for Canvas Church.

Setting aside 21 days for prayer and fasting comes from chapter 10 in the book of Daniel. Fasting in general has no set length, this is simply the length we have chosen.

As a church, we pray and fast during the first part of each year to draw close to God and ask that his guiding hand would be on our lives, and the life of his church.

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting at Canvas Church begins at sundown on Sunday, January 4th and finishes at sundown January 25th.

Fasting is a spiritual practice that has been used by believers for thousands of years to eliminate distractions and create more focus on God. This is done by denying oneself of food, certain meals, technology, or other luxuries and replacing them with prayer or contemplation.

Fasting is meant to be a private matter, so please refrain from posting about yours on social media.

Soul Fast — Going without something that demands a lot of your intention outside of your work/family life. (ex. social media, gaming, Netflix, etc.)

Selective Fast — Going without certain food/drink items for the entirety of the fast. (ex. coffee, sweets, meat, etc.)

Partial Fast — Going without a certain meal or meals of the day for the entirety of the fast. (ex. Jewish fast)

Complete Fast — Going without food/drink other than water for the entirety of the fast.
